PatientWay™ Request
In Pilot Fall 2010
The traditional requisition process for patients to go to hospital is labour intensive and inefficient. Information is transcribed onto pre-printed forms, faxed, and followed up by numerous phone calls and mailed letters.
The goal of PatientWay Request is to automate the flow of requisitions from primary care physicians to hospitals. PatientWay Request focuses on the hospital requisition process. We know this is a complex and challenging task that will take many iterations to accomplish.
To streamline the flow of patient and requisition information from the primary care - PatientWay Access Management Platform™ is examining the feasibility of leveraging functionality in major EMR vendor solutions. There are other efforts underway to address in a comprehensive manner such as with OntarioMD. We are watching these projects carefully and will embrace request mechanisms as they come online.
Once the requisition is delivered to the hospital is where PatientWay Request's workflow automation steps in. Depending on the type of referral various actions such as clinical interventions and additional information requests will need to be made. The PatientWay Request system handles many types of work flows all in a paperless and automated manner.
With the requisition received, reviewed and accepted, the details of the request can be automatically transferred to other hospital systems using HL7 or other strategies.
PatientWay Request links seamlessly with PatientWay Scheduling and Online to automate the patient scheduling and registration processes.
PatientWay Request will be entering pilots Fall of 2010. Hospitals with collective primary care practices or family health teams are invited to submit expression of interest for pilot projects. For more details please contact us at the numbers below.
